Young Living's Orange essential oil is probably in my top five favorites! It smells fantastic when diffused with nearly anything and just makes me happy when I wear it on a diffuser necklace or bracelet. It's cold pressed distilled from the orange rind and originates from the USA (uh, Florida has kind of a lot of oranges), South Africa, Italy, and China. As a citrus oil, Orange is a known photosensitive oil, meaning it amplifies the sun's rays and can cause sunburns.
Usage + Recipes
Like I mentioned above, Orange essential oil is one of my favorites to diffuse. It's uplifting and sweet aroma can turn a bad day right around! I also like to add one drop of Orange Vitality essential oil to my toothpaste each night to help naturally whitening my teeth without making them more sensitive to extreme food/beverage temperatures (and Orange oil is WAY cheaper than Crest White Strips, which I have purchased my fair share of). You can also use Orange Vitality oils in cooking and baking - just add a drop to a muffin/cake/brownie batter and BOOM - you have a lovely orange-y hint to your baked goods! Below are a few other recipes that I use Orange for:
- Awesome Day Roller - (#10 on this list) this is my go-to perfume recipe. It just makes me happy :)
- Bath/Shower Gel - although this recipe used different EOs, Orange could easily replace one of the noted oils. Or you could make your own combo!
- Face Moisturizer - because this recipe also calls for two citrus oils, just be careful about using this on days that you'll be out in the sun a lot. Citrus oils are photosensitive, meaning they amplify the effects of the sun's rays on your skin (aka - you're gonna get burned).
