So as I wrote about last week, Craig and I went climbing in Colorado recently. Craig is an amazing climber - he climbs 5.13ish and boulders V10 (he's sent a V11 in Horseshoe - can you tell I'm super proud of him?!?). Anyway, I am NOT a climber. I rope climb maybe a 5.8 and can finish a (very easy) V1.
Even though I'm not the climber of the family, doesn't mean I don't get my fair share of scrapes and scratches (in fact, I would dare to say I may even get more since I fall ALL THE TIME and Craig doesn't). Well, I was rope climbing a 5.7 in Boulder Canyon that I just could not get over an overhang. I tried (more times than I thought) to get over past the overhang but I was struggling. I leaped to the hold that was suggested by Craig and the other two I was climbing with and I completely biffed it. Thank the Lord that my belayer (John) is a safe and seasoned climber - he caught me but because I was above the part of the wall that jutted out I definitely bashed my whole body into the side of the cliff. Nicked open my knee and got a nice collection of scrapes on my left elbow.
After being defeated by that climb, I got down and got out of my harness and was really noticing the knee and elbow owies stinging. I reached for my pack where I kept all of my essential oils and pulled this bad boy out. I rolled it on where it was stinging and BOOM. No more sting. It was SO nice :)
Here's what you'll need to make this guy:
- 10ml Glass Roller (I get mine on amazon. I prefer the ones that have metal rollers)
- 7 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- 7 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
- 7 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
- Carrier Oil of your choice
Add the drops to the roller bottle and top with the carrier oil and VOILA! You've made your very own Owie Roller!
