When I first got my Premium Starter Kit I had NO idea what this oil was...the name R.C. isn't that great of a descriptor (the only RC I knew was RC Cola and I was pretty sure the two had nothing to do with each other). Turn out R.C. is AMAZEBALLS. It's a helpful cousin to Thieves to be used when you want to maintain healthy lung function. R.C. doesn't smell bad, per se, but it definitely isn't on my list of favorite smelling oils. This blend is made of Myrtle, Eucalpytus Globulus, Marjoram, Pine, Eucalyptus Citriodora, Lavender, Cypress, Eucalyptus Radiata, Spruce, and Peppermint. R.C. supports the respiratory system and all of the single oils found in Breathe Again Roll-On are also found in this bad boy.
Myrtle and Eucalyptus Globulus oils are the two largest single oils that make up the R.C. blend. Myrtle essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of its namesake plant and contains large constituents of a-pinene (a monoterpene) and 1,8-cineole (also know as eucalyptol). A-pinene is a known bronchodilator in humans, meaning it allows oxygen to flow more easily to the bronchiols in the lungs. There have been multiple studies on the ability of the constituent eucalyptol (also known as 1,8-cineole) to aid the respiratory system. One particular research study of note was a double-blind experiment on the ability of cineole to aid rhinosinusitis. You can read the abstract of that study here.
Usage + Recipes
As I mentioned above, R.C. is commonly used in conjunction with Thieves when you want to maintain normal lung function. You can apply R.C. directly to the chest and/or feet but should dilute it 50/50 with a carrier oil.
